Congratulations to our Club Director, Becky Spoehr and all our Club staff.

Mansour Karim Issues Donation Challenge

Thursday, October 9, 2014

Mansour Karim, a long-time Pierre resident, is challenging community members to donate $50,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area. If community members raise $50,000 by December 31, 2014, Karim has pledged to match their gifts. Karim’s most recent pledge is in addition to the $25,000 he gave in August of 2014 in response to a challenge issued by another donor.

If Karim’s challenge is met, the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area will add $100,000 to the $50,000 given in August for a total of $150,000 of endowed funds in 2014. The South Dakota Community Foundation will manage and invest the principal of all the endowed assets. The earnings will be available annually to the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area, which provides kids with a safe, supportive place to go after school.

“Mr. Karim is setting an example for others. He believes there are many people who care about the future of our children and will be happy to contribute by matching part or all of his challenge,” says Dennis Pfrimmer, president and CEO of Capital Area Counseling Service, Inc., which oversees the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area.

People willing to accept Karim’s challenge can donate online at SDCommunityFoundation.org/FeaturedFunds or by calling  1.800.888.1842 for more information.

“The joy of giving is contagious, and Mansour Karim understands that challenge gifts are a powerful tool to encourage a community to gather around a common goal,” says Stephanie Judson, president of the South Dakota Community Foundation. “The donations to the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area will help ensure that young people in the community reach their full potential for years to come.”
